Riley is one of our Crafts & Needlework winners! His wooden cutting board earned him a Best in Show in woodworking, plus multiple first place ribbons for his additional entries.
This is Riley’s 9th year competing at the McHenry County Fair. He’s been competing since he joined 4H, where he was encouraged to enter the Junior Open exhibitions. He remembers entering cookies and Legos that first year.
When asked to describe his overall experience, he said:
“I have enjoyed showing a variety of projects over the years to see how they do in the judging. It is also nice to see the supervisors year after year and they remember you from your projects. I think it’s [exhibitions] a great way to show off your hard work and talents to others. There are so many areas that are showcased that I think fairgoers forget about.”
